Booking.com apologises to Hungarians whose accommodation was cancelled by German host because of Orbán’s speech
Booking.com has responded to the Hungarian group that rented accommodation through them. Although the German host cancelled their reservation due to Viktor Orbán’s speech, now booking.com apologises for the inconvenience.
German host said he does not wish to receive guests from Hungary
As we have written about the incident before, a German host cancelled the accomodation reserved by Hungarians. This is what the host wrote: “Dear Sir or Madam, after the recent statements of the Hungarian Prime Minister, I do not wish to receive guests from Hungary. That is why I am asking you to cancel your reservation.” The message probably referred to Viktor Orbán’s latest speech about how Hungarians do not want to become a mixed race. However, the Hungarian group did not cancel the accomodation. Instead, they wrote to booking.com, reports Index. They told the host that they would not cancel their reservation under any circumstances.

Booking.com apologises
According to 444.hu, Booking.com has responded. Firstly, they apologised for the inconvenience. In addition, they contacted the Hungarian group and informed them that they will accommodate them at the time of the reservation. A few days ago, the German host also wrote the following message: “After sleeping on the subject, I think my reaction was too sudden and I made a mistake. If you still want to stay here, I look forward to your visit.” Although the group had been aware of the host’s change of mind, they wanted to wait for booking.com’s official response.
“Nazism/discrimination has no place in today’s Europe”
Now it is certain the Hungarians are definitely going on the climbing trip in mid-August. When asked about their opinion, they said: “I think about the whole thing that there is no place for Nazism/discrimination in today’s Europe, even if one thinks so.” “The person is running in completely unnecessary circles, only treating others unfairly,” they added.
